| CHALLENGING PROJECTS | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
In
our practice we encountered many projects of extreme difficulties. Our
Office in Brazil supported not only a Modelling-room but a Technical-laboratory
to study, in scale, new use of Spaces and new-Structures. PALLADIUM BUILDING Projects can turn out to be complicated in many ways, as it turned out to be the case of the Residential PALLADIUM in Maringa' BRAZIL. The site located at a strategic point in the city centre, a site rejected by a number of developers according to its impossible narrow site, impeding the development of a typical mirrored solution for a 2-Apartment per-level solution. MAA. accepted the challenge and created the 2 identical Apartments and went further by designing a median-luxurious Building, with many social high-grade-spaces on that very odd site.
THE DANELIAN’S RESIDENCES Two rejected Sites at the Garden Sao Bento in Sao Paulo, Brazil, located on an Abyss of 80 m and condemned by the City-Architects for any construction, belonged to the brothers Danelian which thought the helps from MAA. We
took the challenge and planned a unique and special structure and build
2 of the most exciting residential projects ever to reach our offices.
HOTEL PONTA DAS CANAS The
PONTA DAS CANAS PARK HOTEL in Florianopolis, Brazil is a project adapted
over an existing structure build by God. Huge
existing granite Boulders, serves as the structure of the hotel and used
with intelligence complete the internal natural structure as main aesthetics
to the entire concept.
CATHEDRAL OF MARINGA’, BRAZIL The
120 m high Cathedral of Maringa’, Brazil, is one of the highest
Cathedrals in the world. Many were its challenges, and many its special
Eng. Structures started by Eng. Bellucci, on the invitation of a visionary
man: Archbishop Dom Jaime Luis Coelho. There were many of MAA’s own structural secrets and exclusivities. One of the problem was - that 1 Ton of concrete could only weight 600 kg. on site. Among some of these special Structures, are the Episcopal-chairs, being that the central Archbishop chair is 12 m high, most probably the highest in the world.

EDGE
OF THE SEA The
luxurious 150 residential complex in Umhlanga, South Africa, known as
“Edge of the Sea”, hides 2 sets of different structures (hire
referring to of-set structures needed mainly at the 30 penthouses) and
one of strategic Architectural-planning (coordinates of the key-level
and some structures in balances up to 12 meters). The Architectonic strategic-planning is represented through the Apartments with 5 or more en-Suites with no access corridors. One of the first of this category in the World to use this MAA-created technology.

The Umlazi Municipality, intended to produce a new city, a real “UMLAZI MEGA-CITY” (not to be confounded by a Shopping-centre close-by, which appropriated the name, of that public project). In short, Umlazi should be/ or represent a new City born out of the ashes of the apartheid-era. The local authorities of Umlazi, a township located close to Durban, West of the Durban-airport, decided to identify and upgrade their many scattered existing City-centres, and concentrate them into one. |
